About the Job
Sr. Life Safety Technician

Position Summary

The Sr. Life Safety Technician is responsible for the comprehensive service, inspection, installation, and repair of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and kitchen hood suppression systems. This role requires significant travel, with the technician typically working four 10-hour days per week from Monday to Thursday, allowing for home time from Friday to Sunday. The technician ensures all systems comply with NFPA standards and local and national codes. This position demands a high level of technical proficiency, independence in fieldwork, and a solid foundation in fire protection protocols.

Job Description

  • Ensure all fire protection systems meet NFPA standards and local and national code requirements during installations and inspections.
  • Successfully install and configure fire alarm and sprinkler systems, ensuring operational functionality and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on fire protection systems, aiming for minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Perform detailed inspections and testing of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and kitchen hood system, and document all findings accurately.
  • Quickly and accurately diagnose and resolve issues with various fire protection systems, minimizing impact on customer operations.
  • Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication, timely service, and consistent follow-ups on service quality.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company safety policies during on-site service calls to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training to improve skills and knowledge related to fire protection technology and standards.
  • Efficiently manage travel and on-site work schedules to maximize productivity and meet service commitments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of installations, inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to enhance service delivery and share best practices in fire protection services.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to service techniques, customer interaction, and operational procedures.

Competencies

  • Deep understanding of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, and kitchen hood systems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards and local and national safety codes relevant to fire protection.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues with fire protection equipment and systems.
  • Meticulousness in performing installations, inspections, and maintenance, ensuring all components are correctly placed and functional.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients, understand their needs, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
  • Flexibility to handle various tasks and adapt to changing schedules and job site conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively as part of the job requirements.

  • Capability to accurately document work processes, inspections, and service outcomes.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as working on ladders, in confined spaces, and handling heavy equipment.
  • Eagerness to engage in continuous learning and training to stay updated with industry developments and enhance technical skills.
